Working Through the Pages
When I’m creating journal pages, I don’t really work in order by the day of the week. I create a layout based on inspiration, mood, and/or based on the mediums I’m using. One of my go-to in creating is working with collage and using vintage papers and newer papers. Also, I like to add stickers, ephemera. paint, ink, stamps, fabrics, chipboard, and what-not.
After I filmed my latest video, I realized the word “of” didn’t belong in the words I added to the page. It now reads, “From this place, in the face of uncertainty, I build courage and compassion.” That sounds much better!
Do you journal? What do you gravitate towards the most when you’re working in your journal? Please let me know by leaving a comment on this post or on my YouTube video! -Stephanie Hopkins

Today, I am sharing my most recent Youtube videos! Public speaking is a medium I’m out of practice with and it has been quite the experience recording myself speaking whilst crafting. I must say, I’m enjoying the past time and get a good laugh at my rambles, speech and bloopers-if you will. This year, I made promises to myself that I would try something entirely new, go back to painting on bigger surfaces and conquer my shyness on public speaking. It has been a challenge but a wonderful one at that. Be sure to check out my channel! That is where I will be the most.

How to Make Mixed Media Bookmarks
Great Tips for Beginners
Over the weekend, I have been working on bookmarks for an upcoming bookmark swap on Instagram and I have made three-part videos on this endeavor. Each video shows different mixed media techniques you can use in your crafting. They are simple to follow and they give you a beginner look at creating Mixed Media.
Mixed Media is visual art that uses a mix of materials (usually non-visual) and combine them to create a finished piece. The general rule is using two or more materials such as collage, paint, inks, fabrics, buttons, metal, thread and the list goes on… You can really get creative with this style of medium. This process (besides painting) is my absolute favorite way of creating and I use this method in various crafting endeavors.

Part I: I show how to create a painted background using different color paints and a Dollar Tree cutting mat.
Part II: I show how to use a collage of fabric scraps as a background.
Part III: I show how to use a collage fodder background. In part one, I explain a little bit about how I start the collage fodder process.
